Maddie – available for adoption

Maddie is 8 years old and she has been in mourning. Her owner died and she was sad and grieving. She had other Airedale siblings and she was not happy. Her other owner surrendered her because she was not getting along with her siblings. Maddie even has tear stains around her eyes because of her crying. ARG took Maddie into our care and happier days are ahead for this sweet girl.

Maddie has lived with other dogs and even cats. She would get along in any house where the rules are strictly enforced. She seems perfectly amenable to obeying the rules. If you don’t make her behave, then Maddie will determine where her boundaries are (as any dog will do).

Maddie is 8 years old. She is 85lb and needs to go on a diet to lose at least 10 – 15 lbs! She is up to date on her shots and heartworm negative.

Zeus – available for adoption

Zeus is an available Airedale through ARG. He is 6 years old and very sweet. He is so happy when he receives attention. He seems to be cat friendly. Zeus will benefit from a good healthy diet as he is missing some hair on his back end due to a flea allergy and lack of care and attention to his overall well being. He does well in a crate when owners are at work.

Zeus is 6 years old. He weighs 50lbs. He was neutered before coming into rescue. Zeus is up to date on all shots and is heartworm negative. He has a microchip.

5/16 Update. Zeus is thriving. His temporary foster mom reports he is a happy little guy, and his coat is growing back after a couple of weeks of good food and care. We are still seeking a more longterm foster home, or better yet, a permanent home.

Baby Airedale – ARG finds another wonderful home for our needy ‘dales

Baby was surrendered by a family who recognized that they did not have time for raising an Airedale. They loved her and had spent time with her but they knew that by reaching out to ARG, that Baby would have a good home. Baby was only 5 mos old when she came to ARG. It’s very unusual for ARG to have young puppies! A legacy adopter who had been waiting for an Airedale for some time adopted Baby.

Layla – available for adoption

Layla is as gentle, kind, sweet and easy going. She is grateful to have a safe home with ARG and would love to have a forever home. Layla is estimated to be 6-8 years old. She is 50 lbs. Sadly, Layla was abandoned and not well cared for in her previous life. She had mats in her coat that were terrible and uncomfortable. Her eyes were so crusty that we don’t know how she could even see. Wonderful people recognized Layla’s need for help and care and took her into their home and started to relieve the terrible condition that Laya was in. She was groomed and vetted. She started eating good quality food. She started living inside and in a comfortable bed. Layla had to have a tooth extracted and while the doctor was fixing her tooth, her teeth were cleaned too. Shiny nice teeth! She is timid at first but warms up and starts to enjoy human interaction. She loves other dogs and tries to engage in play when she sees another 4 legged friend. She responds very well to training and commands. She quickly learns new routines and can quickly fall into a household’s daily habits. She is fine with children. We do not know how Layla would be with cats. Layla is up to date on all shots, spayed, heartworm negative.

Layla seeks a new home, new family! She longs to be someone’s companion.

Airedale Rescue Group for Wake SPCA – NC fundraising event

Airedale Rescue Group for Wake SPCA raised $1180 for the Wake County SPCA! What a fantastic opportunity to have Airedale friends together and support Wake SPCA . It was an amazing site to see 25 Airedales together. Thank you all for coming to the ARG event and we could all see each other and visit together before the walk and after. Thank you to all who’ve posted photos that were taken at the event. More photos to come, including the big group shot! Great to get together and see every ‘dale. Even greater that ARG made such an impact for Wake County SPCA! Thank you!

Aggie Transport Success – THANK YOU ARG Volunteers!

Aggie was an Airedale in Alabama that needed ARG when her owners were not well enough to care for her. Luckily, the sons of the owners reached out to ARG and a volunteer was able to help us get Aggie into safe hands. Aggie had heartworm when she came into rescue and ARG treated her. Aggie had to remain quiet for about 4 weeks due to the heartworm treatment and her recovery time. About one month after her treatment, Aggie traveled from Birmingham, AL to Charlotte, NC. She traveled across 4 states – AL, GA, SC & NC. Aggie started to steal hearts on the first leg of the trip and the transport coordinator (Christina) received a phone call that the first driver volunteer wanted to adopt her! He thought that she was so sweet and affectionate. The adoption did not happen on the spot and Aggie continued her travels with other volunteers who found Aggie just as charming. Thanks to ARG volunteers, we are able to transport our needy ‘dales across the states that we serve (AL, NC, SC, GA & TN). ARG volunteers are the very best!

Antlers to chew on – Hefner is in heaven!

Hefner is one lucky dog! A friend of his mom sent raw antlers to Hef & his sister Hannah B. Hannah was not interested in the antlers and Hef said that means more for me if I do not have to share! The good thing about Hefner is he would share if his sister liked the antlers too. HannahB is a former ARG ‘dale and anyone would want to share with her because she is so sweet.

The following young Airedale mixed puppies are in Newton, GA. They are not ARG dogs however we have listed them as a courtesy to promote them for adoption as soon as possible.

PEN 1 – Airedale Pups, Bo & mimi are 4 mths old, and are up to date on their shots except rabies. Mimi has more black on her muzzle. Bo is wearing a collar. Both have been “fixed” and are also microchipped. They were surrendered by their owner who couldn’t care for them.

Playing goes on for hours and hours for two ARG ‘dales

The playing goes on for hours and hours with Abby and Trevor, two ARG ‘dales who were adopted by a ‘legacy’ ARG family. Abby was adopted a year ago at the age of 8 and Trevor was adopted this winter at the age of 1. The two dogs love each other and sleep close together and also play together nicely. Trevor has a lot of energy and Abby has the authority to say when it’s time to rest. A great combination of dogs and family that ARG is very proud of!
