Deacon was given up when his elderly owners were no longer able to care for him. He spent most of his 7 years in a pen with a dog house for shelter, so when his new foster mom took him home recently, he was delighted to get to run in her big yard. And his happiness has only grown. Deacon lives on a farm where the mom has alpacas, a barn cat, and a bunny. We aren’t going to claim that Deacon is friends with all these animals, but so far he has not shown a high prey drive to go after any of them. He typically runs the fence line that separates him from the alpacas and he will bark at them but is much more interested in being with his mom.
Deacon is crate trained and loves to play with his rope pull toy, though squeaky toys frighten him. He wants to be with his person a lot and seeks attention and reassurance with nose pokes, so we’re looking for someone who can spend quality time with him and help him learn that he is safe and secure. Deacon is neutered and up to date on all his vaccines and in good health. He loves everyone, including children and other dogs. He needed a few reminders on house-training initially, but has remembered his house manners. He is an excellent traveler and is good on leash. Deacon is a super sweet boy who wants to be your best friend.
Will you be the one who provides his forever home?
