Gizmo, 7-year-old F/S, So. Carolina

This beautiful, 7-year-old, spayed, female Airedale is Gizmo. She has found herself needing a new home after some major life changes in her family. Her original mom died and ultimately the dad and new mom moved to a new home in a new state. Mom raises and handles small show dogs and initially, Gizmo got along okay with the new dogs. They even played together. She has, unfortunately, become jealous of the little dogs and attacked one recently, requiring veterinarian care.

Gizmo gets along great with her rescued Airedale sibling, also a female, with Gizmo being the dominant one. Gizmo is a loving, loyal Airedale to her dad and very sweet. She gets along great with other dogs her size, loves meeting new people, and she’s good with children. She loves having a big backyard to play in, but wants to live inside with her people. She likes to go riding in the car and she is great being groomed.

At approximately 60 pounds, she is healthy, alert, intelligent, and loving — just not with small dogs.

Is your home just the one for Gizmo? She is ready now.

  1. We still want an airedale but think it best to get one that is younger as we want the dog to grow up with the children. Thank you for asking!!!

    1. Hi, Walt. I haven’t written you since the other day when you asked about Clover. Gizmo is a new Airedale we have available. 2. We would love to welcome this girl into our family. We have a pending application, and we’re in South Carolina.

  3. I am interested but would like to know if she is crate and house-trained before I submit an application.

    1. Yes to both, Candace. If you read her description, you know that she is not safe with small dogs. That’s the only thing that has kept her from being adopted. IF you live in our region: NC, SC, TN, GA, or AL, please apply online at http://www.AiredaleRescueGroup.com and click Adopt. One of our volunteers will contact you for an interview once we receive your application. Thank you

  4. Hi there,
We were approved to adopt. Would Gizmo be okay with 2 dog savvy cats? We are in NC.
    Thanks,
    Janene

    1. Morning, Janene. I would not trust Gizmo with cats. She attacked a small dog in her home, one that she had been living with. She also seems to prefer men to women. We do not know how strong that preference is, but she doesn’t like the man’s current partner who has the small dogs. She also does not like his daughters. It may simply be that she’s jealous of his attention to anyone or anything else other than her, but we must be cautious in placing her. I hope we have an Airedale for you soon. Thank you for your message. Jackie

      1. Thank you Jackie. I appreciate your candor. Not all rescues are truthful about their dogs “quirks”. That’s why we trust ARG!
